Welcome to Melissa and Sallie!

The lakes Melissa Sallie Improvement Association was started in 1936. As a non profit organization, we exist to safeguard our shoreline, water front, and the recreational advantages of Lakes Melissa and Sallie. In the past we have become involved in algae issues, development and zoning issues, and we were instrumental in securing National Preservation Route status for County 22. We work closely with the Minnesota DNR and the Pelican Watershed to stay abreast of current projects and concerns.

The Association hosts an annual meeting in June of every year. It covers a summary of organization activities, new business, election of officers and often, a guest speaker. Since time is always short at the lake, we keep the agenda moving and try to keep the meeting to 90 minutes. Coffee and doughnuts are provided in the beginning so it is a great way to see your lake neighbors at the start of the season. We encourage you to attend!

  1. I noticed that lake Melissa is being aerated, when and why did this start? I’m not aware of any major fish kills taking place on this lake?

    1. It’s been happening for over decade. I think most people do it so they don’t get ice push on their rip rap, but you should ask the DNR if you have questions.
