Welcome to Melissa and Sallie!

The Lakes Melissa Sallie Improvement Association was started in 1936. As a non-profit organization, we exist to safeguard our shoreline, water front, and the recreational advantages of Lakes Melissa and Sallie. In the past we have become involved in algae issues, development and zoning issues, and we were instrumental in securing National Preservation Route status for County 22. We work closely with the Minnesota DNR, county and township officials, and the Pelican River Watershed District to stay abreast of current projects and concerns.

We rent office space in the heart of Shoreham, MN where members and guests can buy merchandise, pick up current information, or pay their membership fees. It is open on summer weekends by volunteers. There is also a bi-annual Home Tour. Always popular, a ticket allows visitors to tour vintage cottages and new lake homes around the two lakes.

The Association hosts an annual meeting the 3rd Saturday of June of every year. It covers a summary of organization activities, new business, election of officers and often, a guest speaker. Since time is always short at the lake, we keep the agenda moving and try to keep the meeting to 90 minutes or less. Coffee and pastries are provided in the beginning so it is a great way to see your lake neighbors at the start of the season. We encourage you to attend!
